Having last been seen flat on his back after being kayoed by Manny Pacquiao in May 2009, Ricky Hatton would prefer to leave us with us with better memories of his career so, following a 3 year hiatus, he is returning to the ring.

Hatton, a 2 weight world champion, called a press conference this morning to announce his intention to return to the ring in November although at what weight he will fight and against who are both still mysteries.

Formerly a the king at junior welterweight, Hatton’s poor eating habits are legendary and often see him balloon from 10 stone to 13 in between fights, but this morning he looked he looked trim and slender so I wouldn’t expect anything above welterweight.

140 and 147 are both dangerous divisions with many live fights out there for him but if this return is about enhancing his legacy he may want to take it easy as he readjusts to life as a boxer again.

It is rumoured he is looking at facing Paulie Malignaggi, the WBA 147 champion, who despite being a superb boxer is considered one of the lighter hitting champions in boxing and having beaten the Italian American before a bout between the two would be appealing to Hatton.
